Dr. Brian J. German is an Associate Professor in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech, and he is the Associate Director of the Aerospace Systems Design Laboratory (ASDL). Dr. Germanís research is focused on air vehicle design and systems engineering with specific emphasis on:

  • Multidisciplinary design, analysis, and optimization (MDAO)
  • Aerodynamic, propulsion, subsystem, and performance models suitable for design and operational simulations of advanced air vehicle concepts
  • Multi-objective optimization and interactive visualization for trade space exploration
  • Design process simulation to model teams of engineers conducting design, analysis, test, and verification of aerospace systems

Dr. German is a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and a member of the AIAA Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) Technical Committee. He is a recipient of the Sigma Gamma Tau Outstanding Aerospace Engineering Professor Award, the Northrop Grumman Deanís Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Lockheed Martin Deanís Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. German is a former Fulbright student scholar, a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow, and a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Fellow. Dr. German received the NSF CAREER award in 2012.
